Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker – YM100

by Tammy on February 11, 2011

This Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker tops an average 4.5 stars, and having 70 positive reviews out of a total 71, seems like buyers love their Yogurt maker.

The Euro Cuisine YM100 comes with an automatic “turn off” function that would shut off the machine after the cooking cycle is over. This is what all yogurt makers should have, considering the long hours they need just to ferment the milk, but with this one, I can just leave it overnight and wake up the next morning with a good old serving of yogurt waiting for me.

You can set the timer to how long you want, and this can be very useful for making a variety of yogurts, I on one hand just leave it for a good 10 hours to get that commercial grade yogurt, of course with a fruity taste (the pure milk thing is not for me)

This Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker is quite small and for those who consume a mammoth amount you will notice that the tiny 7 jars just don’t make the cut.

It comes with 7 glass jars, which in an environmental sense beats the regular plastic cups that conventional store yogurts are packed in, so buying this means no more throwing away plastic cups into the already overflowing landfill.

The little glass jars have a design flaw to them, it seems the neck of the jar has a slight curve at the top that make removing the yogurt a little more difficult, not only that, it also makes them hard to clean.

A user on Amazon feared that the plastic lids for the jars would cause some health issues, but I think that you will be fine just as long as you don’t wash the lids with any harsh or acidic cleaners that would peel their protective coating.

Another design flaw would be that the cover of the maker has a bit that sinks in the middle, this causes the vapor that condenses at the top to gather and drip into the jar in the middle, water in my yogurt? Unforgivable!

It is safe to say that this Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt Maker – YM100 is a good buy considering its price and the automatic turn off; it’s versatile, has the capability to prepare just about any type of yogurt and gets the job done, although there are flaws which could drive the sensitive of individuals up the wall, but you will climb down the minute you get a spoonful of homemade yogurt.

Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker YM80

A well balanced yogurt maker, small and compact, this little “fermenter” prepares your home made yogurts the way you want them to be.

Aside its automatic twin this Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker YM80 has been rated with a generous amount of stars and a lot of positive feedback from users, this is probably due to its affordability and overall user friendly interface (there is no interface actually, everything is just so super simple), just follow the instructions, add a little flavoring to your liking and leave it to work overnight, voila you have a serving of yogurt.

This yogurt maker comes with seven 6 ounce jars, considerably small, but perfect for a small family of 3, you can make different flavors and different types of yogurt with these individual jars. These reusable glass jars remove the need of plastic containers that store bought yogurt come in, a definite win for the environment.

The jars each have individual lids, this lets me stack and cramp the tiny jars without worrying that they would topple over and spill all that yogurt goodness all over the fridge, but remember since the lids are plastic don’t be closing them when the jars are still hot.

I do wish that this Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker YM80 had an automatic turn off switch, but this is not a problem if you time it right, also a few extra hours on the maker won’t harm your yogurt at all, just make sure not to leave them too long, or your yogurt will lose its creaminess.

The cover for the maker does act as a good shield to protect your yogurt while they are being cooked, however vapor does develop and condenses on the lid, which in time will gather and drip into the little jar in the middle, there is no way to prevent this aside covering the jar with its lid (this will in turn cause the bacteria to not be as “happy” as they are supposed to, which in turn ruins your yogurt), so a little water in your yogurt is not that a big of a deal?

The jars have this annoying angle just under the threads, this traps all sorts of things and makes the jars hard to clean, even when I throw them into the dishwasher I am just amazed to see how the left over yogurt manages to stay snuggled and unharmed in that spot.

So this is a great starter for those who want to try making their own yogurt, a little understanding on how milk turns into yogurt and the right ingredients with this Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker – YM80 will get you making yogurt in no time.
